Product detailed description

Telegraphic. You can have a unique piece of art with real artistic value in your home. The serigraph by the Czech artist Monika Žáková, entitled XY, will first awaken a strong aesthetic experience in you, and later raise questions about the relationship between two unknowns, between different perspectives and identities. The title itself opens up space for different perspectives and interpretations - it refers to two different genders, axes on the Cartesian coordinate system, represents unknown values and serves as a label for coordinates in a 2D representation. The result is a provocative and multidimensional work that invites reflection on the meaning and relationships between the concepts that XY evokes. You just want that on the wall!

The printing technique of serigraphy (or screen printing) consists of a process in which ink is pushed through a fine mesh onto the printing surface. The technique first appeared more than a thousand years ago in China, but gained its greatest popularity during the Pop Art period, when artists such as Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein made it famous. Telegraphics offer you a unique opportunity to get up close and personal with the work of contemporary artists. Each print in this limited edition reflects the unique approach and personal vision of its creator. Explore the full range of telegraphics and get a piece of an inspiring world with increasing artistic value to take home with you.

Monika Žáková (*1987) is a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, where she studied in the studio of Jiří Sopko. In 2011 she completed a study stay at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste Dresden. In 2014, she placed third in the prestigious Critics' Prize for Young Painting, awarded to artists under thirty. From the very beginning of her work, she has emphasized a precise approach to the subject under investigation. Žáková's work is characterised by concentration and a strong emphasis on the technical detail of her paintings. She is fascinated by the layering and connections of meaning between materials, working with canvas, paper, aluminium, sheet metal or plaster. She patiently develops and explores the relationship between the apparent and the perceived in conjunction with alternations and changes of planes or layers of colour. In recent years he has been working on works between classical paintings and delicate reliefs. For Žáková, the interconnectedness between the content and form of her works is also essential. She has participated in a number of solo and group exhibitions in several countries in Europe and Japan.
