Andrej Dúbravský (catalogue)
Product detailed description
The concept of beauty, ever-present in the history of art and humanity itself, has become the central motif of the exhibition of the progressive Slovak painter Andrej Dúbravský (*1987). His work combines not only the skill of classical technique, but also a deep insight into human existence and social dilemmas. The exhibition at the Telegraph Gallery presented the intersection of historical perspective and contemporary viewpoint, confronting stereotypes of perfect appearance and highlighting the paradoxical feelings of our time, where the obsession with one's own body competes with the feeling of helplessness from unauthorized entry into intimate space. In the more than eighty-page publication, in addition to reproductions of Dúbravský's exhibited works, photographs from the exhibition and curatorial texts, we can also find photographs of the artist in his rural studio, where he works surrounded by chickens and other fauna, through which he reflects on his own patterns of behaviour and interaction in human society. The catalogue is written in Czech and English.
